South America
Physical conditions:-
South America is the fourth largest continent. Except for a tenth of it's area,the continent lies in southern hemisphere. The Andean mountain chain is the longest range which stretches across the whole continent from north to south having a maximum width of 370 km. This continent has a warm tropical climate with the coverage of rainforests (Amazon Basin in the north) , whereas Patagonia in Argentina is a cold icy region in the southern tip. Deserts (Atacama) border the coasts of western South America. The northern and the eastern part of the continent consists of Guiana and the Brazilian Highlands respectively. In the South-astern part of the continent it has grasslands called Pampas.

Highest Point :- Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina(6,960 m)
Longest River :- Amazon, Peru/Brazil(6,439 km.)
Largest Lake :- L. Titicaca Bolivia /Peru(8,287 sq. km.)
Largest Island :- Tierra de fuego(71,163 sq.km.)
Atacama Desert
A Virtually rainless plateau in South America, covering a 1,000 km strip of land on the pacific coast of the South America, west of the Andes mountain. The Atacama is the on the driest place on the Earth, and it is virtually sterile because it is blocked from moisture on the both sides by Andes mountains and by Chilean coast range.
Brazil is the most diverse country in South America, with large population of Whites, Blacks, Mestizos an Mulattos, as well as sizeable community of Middle Eastern and Asians.
