General Knowledge(Oceans)

Hi, friends It's time to change the topic and talk something about Oceans and other extremes of the Earth. Let's begin... 

First let's talk about Atlantic Ocean:
                                       Mainly divided into North Atlantic and South Atlantic and having the area of 36,000,000 sq. km. and 26,000,000 sq. km. respectively. The greatest breadth in the north is 7,200 km(Morocco to Florida) and in the south is 9,600 km(Guinea to Brazil).
                                     
                                                  The average depth is 3,600 m; the Greatest depths are the Puerto Rico Trench (9,220 m), South Sandwich Trench (8,325 m), and the Romanche Gap(7,728 m).



Now, Indian Ocean:
                           Mainly confined to southern hemisphere, the greatest breadth (Tasmania to Cape Agulhas) is 9,600 km. The average depth is 4,000 m; the Greatest depth is the Java Trench (7,125 m).



At last, Pacific Ocean:
                        It is the largest ocean and covers about 40% of the total sea area. The greatest breadth (east and west) is 16,000 km and length north and south 11,000 km. The average depth is 4,200 m. Generally , the west is deeper than east and the north is deeper than south. The Greatest depths occurs near island groups and include the Marianas Trench(11,033 m), Tonga Trench(10,882 m), Philippine Trench(10,047 m).
