It's now time for Africa, the continent of deserts and wild animals. So, are you ready:-


AFRICA 

Famous Places:

1. Sahara Desert:- 
                      The Sahara covers most of the southern Africa. On quarter of the desert is sandy dunes; the remainder consists of bare, rocky plains and mountainous outcrops.

2. Victoria Falls:-
                       The elegant Victoria Falls situated between Zimbabwe and Zambia falls with a soar into a 106.5 m deep narrow chase. The falls spans 1423.4 m which is one of the widest point of river Zambezi.The Falls were discovered by Scottish Explorer, David Livingstone who named it after queen Victoria.

3. Kilimanjaro:-With it's three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is an inactive stratovolcano in north-eastern Tanzania. The highest point on Kilimanjaro is Uhuru peak, on the volcano Kibo is 5,895 meters. The of Kibo is 2.25 km wide crater.

Physical conditions:-
                           Africa is the world's second largest continent after Asia, covering about one-fifth of globe's land area. Artificially the Suez canal separates it from the main landmass of Europe and the Asia.The land of Africa wilderness. The world's biggest desert, the Sahara is in the northern region while the Kalahari and the Namib are in Southern Africa. There are dense forests around the equator which are home to wild animals. This consists of longest river i.e. the river Nile which provides a lifeline through the desert of Egypt. The Great Rift Valley runs from north to south and it is flooded in places to form series of long, deep lakes like Tanganyika and the Nyasa. Veld, the grasslands are founds in the southern high plateau.

Highest Point :- Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania(5,895 m.)
Lowest Point :- Lake Assal, Djibouti(155 m below sea level)
Longest River :- Nile passing through Egypt, Sudan, Uganda(6,738 km.)
Largest Lake :- Lake Victoria, (Tanzania/Uganda/Kenya) 69,484 sq. km.
Largest Island :- Madagascar, (587,040 sq. km.)

SUEZ CANAL:-
163 km long Suez canal connects Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. It provides the shortest maritime route between Europe and the lands lying around and the Indian and western Pacific oceans.
